Spice Girls? Justin Thorp (99), Mike Czerkes (99), Caleb Levengood (99), Nick Grosburg (99), and Nick Kessler (99) display their feminine sides in their junior lip sync during fall homecoming spirit week. Their performance to the Spice Girls' hit "Wannabe" earned them first place, proving that the juniors were definitely the best of what's around as far as school spirit was concerned.
Best Of Friends: Katy Conlan (98) and Lauren Simmons (98) show that they've found the best of what's around in each other. Friendships carried much importance here at CHS.
faking a Closer Look: Ann
Terryberry (98) and Amanda Eaton (98) refer to their woody tree guides in order to identify a woody plant. Ad- vanced Biology students discovered tie besf way to learn is through hands- on experience.

Homecoming was a fun-filled week packed with activities and events. Competition among the classes during homecoming included spirit week, the penny jar, the pep assembly,
and float building. There was some tough com-
petition, butthe juniors ruled with the most school
spirit. The highlight of homecoming was the football game where Adam Morris and Sarah Schofield were crowned homecoming king and queen. The Rayders topped of the night with an overwhelming win over Elk Rapids. The week came to a successful end with the dance on Saturday where
everyone really "CUt the rug." -Monica Browe {3d) and Tricia Kelly (93)

The Christmas Assembly was, as usual, a huge success and great fun. The afternoon began with the faculty entertaining the students with the recreation of the open-
ing scene of the hit tele- vision
show "Drew Carey." Later, Mr.
Bentley made a special return appearance as the one and only "Ghost of Christmas Past." The afternoon continued as students sang, danced, and showed - off their many talents to the CHS community of friends and family.

Let's T^lk About...
^^ccording to the American Heritage Dictionary, a school is "An institution for ^tEteaching and learning." But to the students of Charlevoix High School, a Tf ischool is much more than a place
to learn or be taught. It is true that a school
provides learning and discipline, but not
everything is about what goes on in the classroom. School is also about sports and activities, communication, and friends. At school, students learn and grow in so many ways far beyond any textbook. School provides an atmosphere in which educational skills as well social skills can develop and create well-rounded individuals.

We'll never tell who it was
That set seventh grade Home EC aglow
Or how in eighth grade a certain window was

On day that was frostier than you know
Was it her spiky red hair
